Genetic testing services

  1. About the Service. Genomic Diagnostics provides genetic testing services, including but not limited to NIPT, pharmacogenomic testing, hereditary cancer testing, carrier screening, and other specialised genetic tests. Testing is performed through the Healius Pathology network, with samples collected at approved Healius collection centres across Australia.
  2. Purpose of Testing. You acknowledge that each test has a specific purpose and limitations. Information provided through testing is intended to support health decision‑making but does not replace medical advice. You should discuss your results with an appropriate healthcare professional.
  3. Eligibility and Test Requirements. You confirm that you meet the eligibility requirements for the test you are purchasing and that you will follow all instructions for sample collection and submission.
  4. Payment and Fees. Payment is required before your test can be processed. Fees are non‑refundable once your sample has been collected or testing has commenced. By proceeding with payment, you acknowledge and agree that:
    1. Your doctor has completed and signed the required request form, and you have read and signed the patient consent section on that form where required.
    2. You meet all eligibility requirements for the test you are purchasing.
    3. The fee payable is based on the test option selected by your doctor on the request form, and you consent to paying the correct amount for the option indicated by your doctor.
    4. You must attend a Healius collection centre (over 2,000 locations nationally) for sample collection, unless your test is kit based in which case the kit will be posted to the address you provide.
    5. If you cancel your test booking or attend a non‑Healius collection site, a $25 administration fee applies.
    6. Different refund terms apply for kit-based tests. If your test kit has already been dispatched and you cancel the test, a $75 cancellation fee will apply. If you cancel after your sample has been returned to us for testing, no refund will be available.
  5. Turnaround Times. Any estimated turnaround times are indicative only. Genomic Diagnostics does not guarantee specific completion dates.
  6. Privacy and Use of Personal Information. Your personal and health information will be handled in accordance with the Genomic Diagnostics Privacy Policy, available on the website.
  7. Accuracy and Limitations. Genetic testing is highly accurate, but no test is 100% definitive. Results may be inconclusive or require further testing. You acknowledge that genetic testing may reveal unexpected or sensitive information.
  8. Recollection of samples. If your blood sample or cheek swab sample is not suitable for testing, our Customer Care team will contact you to arrange a new sample collection at a Healius Pathology Collection Centre. This may involve either a second blood sample or cheek swab. There will be no charge for the replacement collection.
  9. Results Delivery. Your test results will be provided to your referring clinician.  They will also be uploaded to My Health Record unless you opt out on the test request form.  For self-referrals, where no test request form is completed by your doctor, your results will not be uploaded to My Health Record.  You are responsible for ensuring your personal contact details are accurate and up to date.
  10. No Emergency or Diagnostic Service. These tests are not intended for emergency use or for diagnosing acute medical conditions. If you have urgent health concerns, you should seek immediate medical care.
  11. Liability. To the extent permitted by law, Genomic Diagnostics is not liable for any loss arising from the use or interpretation of your test results. Your statutory rights under Australian Consumer Law remain unaffected.
  12. Acceptance of Terms. By proceeding to payment, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms & Conditions.
